Well, I just got it today. Still reading, but an all around good book. I mean, come on, it has actual stormies that aren't horrible shots. That has to count for something.
Anyone?

My brother bought it and says it's great. He says it's kinda like Republic Commando but with Stormtroopers. _________________ "It's like we're real soldiers!"

Yeah, with a little less focus on the 20-ish lightsaber weilding red-haired female involved with a white-armored elite combat trooper. Not even a real relationship happening as far as I've gotten into it...and that's pretty far.
It's a good read, makes a nice intro to Mara Jade (red-haired young woman with the initials MJ...know anyone like that?), gives you a look at stormies, and a somewhat explanation as to why they were such bad shots in the OT movies.
I give it a:
42
42,
and a:
99
100 for bringing back Disra. |

| I'm done with it...but, like I said, my least favorite parts were the ones involving Disra. |

I'm with you, Meerkitty. Those were my least fave, too, but there sure were a lot of kick-booty parts!!!
Quite honestly, this was the first SW book that ever had me liking any Stormtroopers of any sort. I loved LaRone and his group!! I was hoping (I don't want to give anything away here for anyone who hasn't finished reading yet...) that they would have done something "differently" at the end. *sigh* However, I'm still happy with the way things turned out! |

| IMO, anything done differently would severly alter the current EU as we know it. |

Ok, I'll just say it, since you and I "seem" to be the only ones really on this thread at this point...
I was hoping they'd (the Hand of Judgement) join the rebellion. I don't really see how that would have altered the EU. Do you?
I don't recall their characters in any of the other books unless they have been in some that I haven't read yet. |

| Oh...I thought I saw a possible Mara LaRone ship for a few seconds...but that would be a stretch. I never thought the Hand would join the Rebels, as they had taken an oath to defend the citizens of the Empire. And you'll notice, that's exactly what they were always trying to do...they simply thought that the slaughter of innocents simply because they might be Rebels wasn't defending the cits. |

I just started reading it today, and it really reads great. You're right about the Rep Commando similarities w/ the StormTrooper plot. I wonder if little Miss Traviss is going to have Delta Squad go the same route when she gets around to Order 66.
BTW, I do like her plots, but I have a problem with her writing style and one with a subplot.
SPOILERS ALERT! (Mild as it may be...)
She has Darman play around with a Jedi - super queer and super-gag material.
Her writing style is also kind of dry, and for the scope of readers she knows she's selling these books to (i.e. young SW fans), she has an awful lot of language in it.
